The Atlanta Poker Club has two unique promotions going on this week! One is an opportunity to play a different format of No Limit Poker and the other is a chance to take down Mr APC in a heads up battle.

Atlanta Poker Club Heads Up Poker

Jason Spry and Phil Hellmuth at the WSOPWho is Mr Atlanta Poker Club? None other than APC co-founder, Jason Spry! See that image? That is Jason playing in the WSOP sitting next to Phil Hellmuth. Some of us call him “Big Fish” or “Donkey”, but we all know Mr APC as “Spry”. Spry loves poker, both live and online poker, and he is one tough negotiator when it comes to heads up poker. Think you can take him? Good! Here’s your chance to show off your heads up strategy!

You can win a chance to play heads up poker against Spry by winning one of two Cocktail Cove Wednesday night events this Wednesday, Sept 26th or Wednesday, October 3rd. The two winners from these 2 exclusive Cocktail Cove events will each play in a Heads Up Challenge against Mr. Spry in 2 separate tournaments on Wednesday, Oct 10th.

Beat Spry heads up and you win a NEW APC polo shirt.

Think you got game? Better bring your “A” game to the Cove the next two Wednesdays.

Spry Writes – I’m keeping a running tally of my wins and losses heads up with names and results of opponents here in the blog and I don’t plan to lose too many. Beat me and I’ll buy you an official Atlanta Poker Club Polo shirt, it’s that easy.

Omaha Sunday – First Ever in APC History at Cocktail Cove September 30th

This Sunday at Cocktail Cove will mark a first for The Atlanta Poker Club. Introducing, Omaha Sunday at The Cove. This Sunday only (9/30), we’re changing up our game a bit and bringing an afternoon of Omaha Hi to the APC.

NL Omaha Hi has only a few differences from NL Texas Hold Em. Instead of being dealt two hole cards pre-flop, each player is dealt four cards. Each player MUST use two of their hole cards and three cards from the board to make their best 5-card poker hand. Players must always use two cards from their hand and three from the board. Blinds, betting, point structure, etc is all the same as a regular APC Texas Hold Em event.

Omaha Poker Rules

The rules of Omaha poker are essentially the same as Texas holdem except that everyone starts with 4 cards and you must use 2 from your hand.

Remember – you must use 2 cards from your hand and 3 from the board (in texas holdem you can use 1 in your hand and 4 on the board, or you can even just play the board and not your two hole cards) this is not the case in Omaha.

A great way to practice the game is simply by playing it some. If you want to play online to practice, I recommend FullTilt Poker as they have plenty of sit-n-go’s, tournaments, and free play tables to get you warmed up and ready to play.

This special Omaha event is sure to be a lot of fun and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon – Great Food, Great Friends … and GREAT POKER!
