As some APC members already know, one of our APC members has recently published his first book on poker. APC member Black Pettway Sr has recently released a book that covers the fundamentals and intermediate strategies of playing and winning texas holdem poker tournaments. I wanted to take a few minutes to interview Black and get more information on his book and learn more about him and his first book. I encourage everyone reading this interview to pick up a copy “THE PLAYBOOK” and add it’s advice to your game.

SPRY: Thanks for taking the time to interview about your book.
BLACK: My pleasure, I couldn’t wait to have this interview lol! Jst plyn. But I do appreciate it because I think a lot of my fellow poker players could use some insight about me and my book.
SPRY: Tell us about your background playing poker.
BLACK: Well, I’ve been playing poker since the age of 9, I grew up around a lot of card playing; spades, blackjack, stud, hold’em, etc. Given early lessons and the unfortunate early bad beats, my experience with the game pays off very well when I’m in the casino.
SPRY: What factors led to you deciding to write a book about poker?
BLACK: Wow, great question. Well, to be honest it bothers me to sit at a poker table with players that don’t know the fundamentals of the game. Now we all have different views when it comes to poker, but I see a lot of dedicated players that make the biggest mistakes in tournament poker. Now we all should learn from our mistakes, but some players never learn. I figure if I give NEW players an easier way to understand the game and how to survive in it, there will be more disciplined, focused and definitely more competitive hold’em tournament players sitting at your table.
SPRY: When did you decide to write a book on poker?
BLACK: Lol! You know what, because “STEVE QUACH” told me I couldn’t do it. Listen, I’m very competitive, I love to be challenged. In fact, I challenge myself on a daily basis. STEVE has this theory that if you’re not a “nationally known poker player” aka “televised poker pro” you can’t publish a book and if you do you’re wasting your time. Well STEVE my name is BLACK PETTWAY, SR., GOOGLE me, lol!
SPRY: How long did it take you to write the book?
BLACK: I was actually done with the book two weeks from the time I started writing, I was able to put time in to it then. I’m an Actor & Model so work forced me to step away from the book for a minute that’s why it’s just now being published.
SPRY: Is this your 1st book or have you published before?
BLACK: This is indeed my first published book, but I have other projects following this one. I have another book called “50 Clay St.” which I plan on making a movie of and a “2013 Candy Calendar” for the ladies.
SPRY: Who do you think will benefit the most from your book?
BLACK: INTERMEDIATE players. These are players that know the game but have yet to embrace the strategy or discipline that tournament poker requires, to win.
SPRY: What type of poker do you focus on?
BLACK: Texas Hold’em cash & tourney, my favorites.
SPRY: How can people purchase your book and what kind of formats are available? Can you get a physical book from Amazon or more like a kindle version?

SPRY: How much does your book cost?
BLACK: That depends on what format you’re buying and if it’s “full colored” or black & white. The book is very unique. Every copy eBook and Kindle will have “full colored” pages available or you can get black & white. If im not mistaken the price range from $6.95-$18.75
