The Atlanta Poker Club $999 Grand Championship was held on Saturday, December 15th at AllStar Billiards in Winder. There were 280 players qualified for the tournament that is the highlight of an entire APC season. The prizes were $700 WSOP/WPT Package + Invite to Yearly Championship (priceless) + 6 Month V.I.P. Membership $99 + Rectangular APC Silver Coin
2nd Place Won $150 + APC Gear
3rd Place Won $50 + APC Gear
4th – 10th Place Won APC Gear
Sam Nifong emerged victorious and beat a field of 155 total players!
Sam grew up in Gainesville, Georgia and has been playing Texas Hold’em since February of 2012.
Who is your favorite poker player, and why?
Daniel Negreanu…his amazing reads.
Who has influenced your play the most?
The whole Atlanta Poker Club. There are all types of different styles…loose, tight, agressive, donkey…and they made me tighten up my game. When you go to play you really have to play to win.
What is your advice for new players?
Don’t play every hand. Be patient and remember patience is a virtue. Just sit and wait.
What are your goals in the APC?
To win the Tournament of Champions bracelet. It may not be this year. It may not be next year…but eventually.
How did it feel to win the Grand Championship?
It was amazing. I’m still in the excitement of it all. Unbelieveable.
Have you ever played in a casino?
I’ve been to Cherokee to play in Harrah’s casino and I’m going to the World Series of Poker in Cherokee in April.
At the Grand Championship, Sam Nifong was not intimidated by the large number of players and practiced patience. Sam is great to play against, and we wish him luck at the World Series of Poker, and The Tournament of Champions!
